Allergy Diagnostics

Allergy Diagnostics” refers to the process of identifying whether a person has an allergy, what substances trigger it, and how severe the reaction may be.

Common allergy diagnostic methods include:

  1. Medical history and symptom review

    • Timing and pattern of symptoms

    • Possible triggers (foods, pollen, dust mites, pets, medicines, insects, etc.)

    • Family history of allergies

  2. Skin prick test

    • Small amounts of suspected allergens are placed on the skin (usually the forearm or back).

    • A raised, itchy bump may indicate sensitivity to that allergen.
